Are you a tiny bit feed up hearing about sustainability from fashion brands. And anyway, is it possible to have both luxury and real sustainability? Well, bear with me. I want to share with you some information, just some straightforward facts.....no marketing buzz words and fluff. Or stock images of discarded plastic bottles floating in the sea.....
At Kikki-G we are using a new innovation in swimwear fabric. Here's the techie bit......
* We are using a bio based fabric
* That means it's made from plants.....oil from the caster bean plant in fact
* Traditional swimwear fabric is carbon based, basically a form of plastic which comes from oil.
* Recycled swimwear fabric is made from recycled plastic, often fishing nets and plastic bottles.....A great idea. Yes.....However turning fishing nets etc into swimwear fabric involves a huge chemical process. Recycling is good but bio based is better!
* The Caster Bean plant is a totally renewable source and has no impact on the food chain (animal or human). The plants grow in arid areas with low needs for water or chemicals.
And the good news is the fabric is wonderfully soft and luxurious with just the right amount of hold.
Kikki-G celebrates our love of the beach and nature. We can't wait to share with you our beautiful swimwear made in our lovely bio based fabric.
