WfWI is an incredible charity which helps women survivors of war to rebuild their lives. The participating women go through a year long training programme. They learn skills and receive information about their rights. Since 1993 they have reached over half a million women survivors of war in Afghanistan, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Democratic Republic of Congo, Kosovo, Nigeria, Rwanda and Iraq.

In 2019 I was lucky enough to travel to Rwanda with WfWI and see their program first hand. The trip was a truly incredible experience. The programs they run are very impressive, extremely well organised and executed. It is also great to see that it is Rwandan people running it in Rwanda. The positive effects of the program are very clear for the individual women who attend. But the virtuous circle effect is also very evident. The graduates from the program take their skills to their communities and the beneficial effects spread. Their gratitude to WfWI is incredibly humbling. I met these awesome ladies who make strawberry jam.

Kigali, the capital of Rwanda is a modern forward looking city with many new developments underway. However, outside the city the country is incredibly poor. Rwanda is a country of rolling green hills. The women working in the fields, wearing traditional African dresses and headdresses, are striking and picturesque. Music and dance are everywhere and embodies the sense of community. But the picturesque beauty belies the very hard lives that people live. The WfWI is a beacon of much needed hope and progress enriching lives. At Kikki-G we are very proud to be corporate sponsors of this wonderful charity.
